The Norwegian group Kartellet, the Estonian musician Johanna Adele-Jussi and Art in Motion together create a unique, absurd and playful world in which they unite their artistic styles: VILLAGE PARTY!
Village Party highlights unconventional, whimsical and playful movements and inspires more playfulness in everyday life. The performance combines Estonian music, Norwegian and Austrian contemporary folk dance and interactive elements such as trust-based games and rituals. How can stereotypes be challenged at village parties in three European countries? How can we artistically engage with tradition, humanity and movement? Village parties often emphasize competition and technical perfection. We want to break down these conventions and encourage curiosity and interaction through rare dances, movements and games. With rhythm, competition, folk art and absurd exercises, the performance creates a playful interaction.
Village Party creates a space in which the audience actively participates. Spontaneous play and improvisation are integrated into a structured artistic environment. Music and movement strengthen the sense of community. By merging performance and participation, Village Party redefines traditional dance and folk culture and celebrates movement, music and human connection.
